Where & Who We Are

Getting To The Vineyard

There are some great footpaths that go to Combe Hay and one from Combe Down/Southstoke that pretty much ends at the vineyard gate. If you know how to get to the Wheatsheaf Pub in Combe Hay, we are just up the road. We also have a car park on the site at:

The vineyard is only open by appointment.

Stephen, Filippa, Iris & Evelyn Ross

Stephen, Filippa, Iris & Evelyn Ross

The vines were planted in 1986 by Francis Pearson, Filippa’s dad, and the vineyard has always been family run. We were drawn into it after moving down from London, and feel lucky to have the experience of producing something that makes people smile, and to work in what we increasingly realised was a whole amazing eco system.

Iris and Evie have grown up spending time on the site and graduated from mudpie kitchen stuff to helping with making comfrey feed and pruning. We are passionate about making wine that expresses the flavour of our heritage grape varieties and beautiful site, but most of all is delicious to drink. We believe great wine is an expression of the whole vineyard, its environment, eco system and the work of all of the people who are part of its creation.

Adam, Winemaker & Vineyard Partner

With a breadth of knowledge gleaned from experience in vineyards and wineries, from Chile to Portugal, Adam is passionate about growing grapes and making English wine in a low intervention natural way.

He has already become a key partner of the vineyard team, advising and leading volunteer sessions, and he has just opened a microwinery and wine bar at The Station in Frome, selling his own natural wines and ciders Saddle Goose.

The Vineyard Volunteers

A community of people who work with us on the vines and improving the ecology of the wider site, learning as they go. We would love you to join us – there is more information on Volunteering page and follow us on Instagram for details of what we achieve together.
